How We Can Help

Functional Herbal & Nutritional Therapy is an integrative approach that combines the healing power of plants with evidence-based nutritional science to promote overall wellbeing and prevent or manage chronic conditions. This approach goes beyond traditional medicine by focusing on the root causes of health issues rather than merely addressing symptoms. It draws on the wisdom of herbal medicine, modern nutritional science, and functional medicine principles, creating a holistic, personalised system of care that supports the body’s natural ability to heal and maintain balance.

Benefits of Functional Herbal & Nutritional Therapy

  1. Holistic and Preventative Care: This therapy emphasises prevention and early intervention. By addressing health imbalances before they become full-blown diseases, Functional Herbal & Nutritional Therapy helps to prevent chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune disorders and cancer.

  2. Personalised treatments plans: Unlike conventional medicine, which often focuses on symptom management, Functional Herbal & Nutritional Therapy provides a highly personalised approach that takes into account the patient’s unique biology, lifestyle, and environmental factors.

  3. Minimises Side Effects: Herbal remedies and nutritional interventions are generally well-tolerated and carry fewer side effects compared to pharmaceutical drugs. This makes them a safer option for many people, particularly those with chronic conditions or who are looking for more natural treatment options.

  4. Empowerment and Education: One of the key aspects of Functional Herbal & Nutritional Therapy is patient education. Clients are encouraged to understand the root causes of their health concerns and actively participate in their healing process. This empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their health and lifestyle choices.

  5. Supporting the Body’s Natural Healing Processes: Functional Herbal & Nutritional Therapy focuses on restoring balance to the body’s systems, supporting its inherent ability to heal and regenerate. For example, using herbs like Milk Thistle can support liver detoxification, while nutrient-dense foods provide the vitamins and minerals needed for cellular repair.

The initial consultation can take up to 90 minutes covering the following areas:

  • patient's background including family and medical history

  • patient's symptoms

  • patient’s diet

  • patient's lifestyle choices

  • patient's current mood and stressors

  • patient’s environmental stressors

  • clinical examinations and functional tests where necessary

  • genomics and epigenetics where required

A follow-up consultation in 2 to 4 weeks is recommended to review patient's progress and adjust the therapy as required.

The length of treatment varies according to the problem. Dramatic improvement may be seen within two weeks of starting treatment whilst chronic conditions often take much longer. Therapy will be directed at the causes of disease not just the presenting symptoms. Prescriptions will be entirely personal to the extent that different patients presenting with similar conditions may have different prescriptions. In some cases the prescription will be given to the patient as soon as the next day. In complex chronic conditions when further research is required in order to offer cutting edge up to date treatment, the prescription may be given up to a week after the consultation.

Note: Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice and missed appointments may be charged at the full rate.
